About this treatment
Njavara Kizhi (also called Shashtika Shali Pinda Sweda) uses Njavara, a traditional Kerala medicinal rice, cooked in milk and a herbal decoction and tied into warm boluses. It is a nourishing, strengthening therapy in the Ayurvedic tradition of Kerala.
How it is done
The warm rice boluses are dipped in the warm milk-herbal preparation and massaged over the body in rhythmic strokes by trained therapists, followed by rest and a warm wash as advised by the practitioner.
